V-Recall is a virtual-reality memory palace — an experiment in using spatial memory and embodied presence to make information stick. You walk through a hand-built environment and anchor things you want to remember to physical locations, leaning on the brain's ancient instinct for place over abstract lists.

The idea

The method of loci is two thousand years old: memory champions still beat the rest of us by mentally walking familiar buildings and dropping vivid images in each room. VR makes those buildings real — you don't have to imagine the palace, you can build it, walk it, and reach out and touch the things you've placed inside.

V-Recall turns that technique into an interactive space where the rooms, the objects, and the act of placing memories are all tangible.

How it works

The environment was modeled in Blender and assembled in Unity, with interactions wired through the XR Interaction Toolkit for Meta Quest. You grab objects, position them around the scene, and associate each one with something you're trying to retain — then take a guided walk to recall them in order.

What I learned

Building for VR forced a different kind of design thinking: comfort, scale, and where the body sits in space matter as much as the visuals. Small details — how far an object floats, how it snaps to your hand — make the difference between an experience that feels real and one that feels like a tech demo.
